And another favorite place of mine bites the dust.

Yep.  Another one of my favorite places to go in my hometown has closed it's doors for good, and I didn't find out about it until just earlier today.  I enjoyed going to a 50's style diner every so often called Joe's.  I went there for my birthday a couple years running, and I went there a couple other times just to enjoy the scenery while waiting for my meal, or even listening to the music from the juke box.

Now it's gone.

Don't you just hate it when you love a place so much and want it to stay in the same place forever, but then one day it just up and closes, without any warning?  I'm sure that's happened to everyone at least once.  Well, it still sucks.  With the loss of a great place, it also means Reno has lost some of its soul, and it will just never be the same again.  First Starlight Bowling, then Carrows Restaurant chain (although that one from the information I gathered is from unfavorable reviews, which in turn caused less people to visit, which in turn meant less money with which to pay rent and keep the place), and now Joe's (but this place I don't think was bad reviews, and it certainly had nothing to do with location.).  Well let's just hope that A&W doesn't go the way of the dodo, because that would be a SERIOUS blow to the community.

Either way, farewell Joe's Diner.  It may be gone, but it certainly won't be forgotten.

Dude, I know the feeling all too well.
I remember when I got my first job several months after I got out of high school, there were still things to do in my home town, the mall was alive, there was a bowling and activities place with a huge indoor playground, a nickel palace arcade. Almost everything to do in my home town has gone the way of the dinosaurs in the past 10 years. Even the mall now is like a funeral home. Too many places either loosing their of business or managers not paying state property taxes. Basically the town in which I grew up has become more of a retirement town these days.
