Dan Arashi had been
living in Equestria for quite some time, after his own home was
destroyed.  A lot of changes had happened since he first showed up.
For instance, Twilight's tree house, called the Golden Oak Library
had been completely obliterated by a towering monster called Tirek.
Dan would have been able to help, but he found himself powerless
against the massive beast.  After his downfall, Twilight received a
brand new house in the form of a large castle in the shape of a
crystal tree provided by a mysterious magical force.

“Man, it is
really boring around here.” He thought to himself one day.  “I
really miss my past life.  I know there's no going back, but at least
I still have something to keep the memories alive.  Something that
I've never told anyone about.”

He then goes back
into his house and finds a chest, and inside it was his Samurai
armor, but it also had a sailor's outfit like a Navy officer would
wear.  “On the other hand,” he muttered to himself, “I
got tired of the sea after a while, which is why I left in the first
place.  Still, I don't feel right hiding this anymore.”  As he
looks at the suit and his armor, he noticed that they were in need of
a few touch-ups.  His Navy uniform had gotten a bit of threadbare,
and his armor started to lose part of its shine.

“I can't hide
it anymore.  I've got to go to Rarity and have her touch up my
clothes.  I just hope I have enough money to pay for her services.”

Dan checked his
wallet and sure enough he had more than enough to pay for it, and he
made his way to the boutique.  On his way, he met up with a grey
unicorn with maroon stripes all over his body.  He also had red eyes
with a black and red mane.  Dan recognized his face from the
newspapers, about how he used to be an infamous theif lord who used
to terrorize another dimension, but had given it all up to start a
new, more simple life.  Dan approached.

“Hey, aren't
you Iron Tornado?” Dan asked.

“Huh?”
Tornado replied, and sees Dan.  “Why yes, I'm Iron Tornado, but
just call me Tornado...Wait a minute, aren't you Dan Arashi?”

“So, you've
heard of me?” Dan replied.

“Celestia's
told me about you Dan.  About how you came from another dimension
after your home got destroyed.”

“You're well
informed.  I've heard a similar tale about you.  You used to be an
infamous thief lord who killed a lot of people in cold blood.  Young
or old, pony or dragon, you didn't care.”

“Yes, that
was my life before” Tornado said “but no more, and I'm
proud of that.  Anyway, I'm not here to exchange sob stories.  I have
some very important business with Rarity.”

“You don't
say.  I'm heading that way too.  Mind if I walk with you?”

“Not at all.
I love a bit of company.  After I pick up what I need, I have to go
home and feed my pet Ninetales, and she gets rather vicious when
she's hungry.”  He chuckled.  “Sometimes when I don't
feed her, I wind up on the menu.”

“Well at
least we know she loves you.  I'm going to Rarity's to have my armor
touched up.”

“That case is
a little big to have just Samurai armor in it, but I won't pry.”

They walk to the
door just as Applejack was leaving with her Grand Galloping Gala
gown.  It got a little worn the last time she used it and it needed
some touch-ups.  Dan then saw Darkhoove, who he had met previously
waiting in line as well.  They got in line and waited ever so
patiently for it to go in, and it went by rather quickly.  When
Rarity finally got to Tornado...”

“Picking
up...?” she asked him.

“Yes ma'am.
Here's the ticket.”  Tornado handed her to ticket, and Rarity
went and found the tag that matched.

“Here you are
Tornado.”  She handed him a fancy dress suit that had been
neatly folded.  Tornado paid the bill with a smile and left.  Next up
was Dan.  “Why hello Dan.  I didn't think you'd ever find a
reason to come down here.  What can I do for you?”

“I need the
clothes in this case touched up.  I was reminiscing earlier and I
noticed that it got a little threadbare.”

“Alright.”
She puts a tag on the suitcase and hands another half of it to Dan.
“I'll give you a call when it's done.”

“Actually, I
was hoping I could come in and watch.  I don't have anywhere to be,
and you look like you've had a bit of a hard day.”

“Surely you
jest.  I've had the best day of my life so far.” she said, “but
you're free to come in if that's what you want.

Rarity soon got to
work mending Dan's dress armor, but she was intrigued by his Navy
outfit.  “Where did this come from Dan?”

Dan didn't answer.
He was a bit nervous about revealing the origin of where he came
from, and what he used to do.  Rarity reallized that he didn't want
to talk, and dropped the issue.  About two hours later, she was done.

“There you
are darling.” she said with a smile as she gave the case back
to Dan.  “That'll be 50 bits.”

Dan paid the bill
and left, but it wasn't long after that before he heard Rarity
shouting, and being shouted at.  She was arguing with a very unhappy
customer.

“I DID
EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED ME TO DO, AND NOW YOU'RE TELLING ME IT'S NOT
GOOD ENOUGH?!!  HOW DARE YOU?!”  Shouted Rarity.

“THIS COMING
FROM THE HIGHEST RECOMMENDED SEAMSTRESS IN THIS COUNTRY?  DON'T MAKE
ME LAUGH!  YOU COULDN'T EVEN DESIGN YOUR WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG!  A
RANDOM STRANGER ON THE STREET COULD MAKE DESIGNS BETTER THAN THIS!!”
Shouted the customer.

“WHY I
NEVER!”  She took a deep breath to calm herself.  “If
that is how you feel, then why don't you tell me just what it is that
makes you upset about it, and I'll fix it for you.  Or you could tell
me why you think my design stinks.”

“You're blind
to your beliefs Rarity.  What you see as good, maybe even amazing, is
pure garbage in the eyes of others.  Beauty is in the eye of the
beholder Rarity.  As for why I think it stinks, it just does.”

Rarity was about
ready to clobber the customer, and Dan heard every word.  “Fine.”
she said, even though she was forcing every word, and her emotions
through her rage.  “If that's really how you feel--”  She
grabbed the garmet and started ripping it to shreads.  “Then
maybe you'll appreciate it more if YOU SAW IT DESTROYED BEFORE YOUR
VERY EYES!!”  In her fury, she bit at loose threads, tore holes
all over it, and even put it through a shredder.  In the chaos of it
all, the customer was just struck dumb.  Rarity soon cooled down.
“There, now are you satisfied?  You've made me destroy
something I put my heart and soul into, just because it's exactly
what you told me you wanted.”  Her eyes started to fill with
tears at this point.

Realizing what he
had done, the customer hung his head in shame.  He only had one thing
to say:  “I'm sorry Rarity.  I had no idea how much it meant to
you.”  He got down on his knees and gathered up the ramaining
pieces of the garment, and tried to pat Rarity on the head, but she
pulled back.

“Get away
from me, and get out of my store.” she said through her tears.
“I don't want to see you in here ever again.”

“Don't you
think that might be a little extreme?” the customer continued
to try to console her, but it fell on deaf ears.

“I SAID GET
OUT!!” she screamed, using her magic to forcibly remove him
from the room and make sure the door was locked before letting him
down.  She had failed to notice Dan sneaking in in the commotion.

“What was
that all about Rarity?”

Surprised, Rarity
looked up and saw Dan, still with tears in her eyes.

“Oh, hi Dan.
It hurts when you meet someone who doesn't appreciate the things you
do to please them.  Even my friends have done it.”

He tried to console
Rarity, but just like she did with the customer, she backed away,
withdrawing into her own shell.  Eventually, Dan had enough and
grabbed Rarity's arm, and she wasn't able to withdraw this time.

“Rarity, I
don't want to see you upset.  Come on, let's get out of here and get
some fresh air, because I feel you need it.”  Rarity wanted to
argue, but she realized it was all for naught and got back on her
feet.  They exited the room, and saw that the customer was close to
begging to be let back in.  Rarity looked him in the eye and saw that
he really didn't mean to hurt her like he did.  She also saw Princess
Twilight in the crowd.

“Rarity?  Is
everything all right?  I heard shouting and I came rushing here as
fast as I could.  This customer explained that you went wild after
being told that your work on a suit he ordered was terrible?”
Twilight said, trying to console her friend.

Rarity, unable to
speak through her tears, just nodded.

“I know it's
hard to take critcizm Rarity, but you've got to accept the fact that
not everyone is interested in the same thing.”

“But he gave
me a detailed wish list of things he wanted in the suit with precise
measurements, decorations, and even stitching.  It was very
professional, and I followed those directions to the letter, and then
he came back and told me that it wasn't good enough.” Rarity
said.  “It wasn't so much what he said, but the way he said it
that sent me over the edge.”

“Yea, I admit
I may have overreacted myself.  I didn't know you'd get homicidal.”
said the customer.

“I don't
normally.” she sighed “You are my valued customers, and I
had no right to do that.  If you still want my service, I'll make you
a brand new suit at no extra cost.  I'll even throw in a 50% off
coupon for your next visit.”

The customer
thought long and hard about Rarity's offer, but eventuallly decided
that he just wanted to end the battle.  He accepted her offer.
“Deal.  And I promise not to call the quality lousy.”

“See that you
don't,” Rarity said.  “The shop's closed until I can calm
down everybody.  Sorry for the inconvenience.”

“Now that's
the Rarity I know and love,” said Twilight.

“Come on
Rarity.  You need some fresh air and something to get your mind off
this incident.” Dan urged, and Rarity agreed.  They started to
walk, but Dan could tell that what had just happened was still
bothering Rarity, so he came up with an idea quick.

“I wish I
wasn't so hard on myself,” she said as they walked.  “Dan,
you're something else, taking me under your wing like that.  Where
did you learn be so caring?”

Dan smiled.  She
seemed to have read his mind, as that was exactly what he wanted to
talk about.  “Rarity, there's a side to me that few people know
about.  The fact that I'm a caring individual and am always one to
cheer up my friends.”

Rarity stopped
crying, but continued to walk slowly.  She stayed silent.

“Perhaps a
story will cheer you up.”  This got her attention.  “It's
a story that I'm sure even you can appreciate.”

“I'm
listening,” she said.

“It begins a
really long time ago, long before I even came here to Ponyville.  You
know me as a Samurai warrior, but I wasn't always like that.  I used
to be an Admiral in the Navy.”

“Well, that
explains the Navy officer's uniform in your suitcase.”

“Yes, it's
true.  I was always about defending my home.  I often went out on
boats with my parents and was fascinated with the differing waters
around the world, so I joined the Navy to further my love.  The
people in my platoon were the nicest and strongest people I ever met,
and my commanding officer was always understanding, but hardcore when
he needed to be.  I spent ten long years in the service, and was out
on the ocean almost every single day.  I eventually grew tired of it,
especiallly after numerous seasickness spells.  Eventually I said,
enough was enough.  I wasn't meant for the water.  When we reached
the dock and disembarked, I resigned from the Navy and persued a new
career.  Another fascination of mine was the way of the Samurai, the
very symbol of Japanese culture, and it turns out that I come from a
family that has roots in the ancient Samurai warriors.  The moment I
grabbed my first Samurai sword, my life was changed forever.”

“You gave up
your life on the sea to life with a blade upholding a legend?”
Rarity asked.  “Hmmmm, I'd say you made a great choice.”

“I lived like
that for years, and my parents got me a full set of armor to go with
the sword.  I traveled to shrines all over the world, and took
numerous classes in order to fine-tune my fighting style.  It's all
paid off.”

The two eventually
found a nice Cherry Blossom tree to sit down at.  It was the very one
that Dan liked to go to whenever he needed some time to think, and
Rarity considered it a privilege to be there with him.  She curled up
closer to him as he continued his story.

“Everything
was great until the day when my world was destroyed and I wound up
here.  You know the rest.”

Rarity was a bit
dumbfounded.  It was unlike anything she was expecting out of Dan
Arashi.

“There's one
thing that bothers me though.” Rarity said, “Your name
was Dan Celestial when you first arrived here.  Why do you go by Dan
Arashi now?

“Arashi is my
actual surname.  Celestial was a nickname given to me by my Samurai
master back in the day.  My armor resembled the sun, and had a sun
symbol on the armor itself.  The name just stuck.  When I came here,
I just decided to revert back to my real name.”

“I see.”
Rarity nuzzled Dan on the cheek.  “Thanks for cheering me up
Dan.  It means a lot to me

In response to
this, Dan patted Rarity on the head and soon heard her purring like a
kitten.  He soon also heard her stomach growling.

“Oh my.  I
didn't realize just how hungry I was.  Mind if I...?”

“Eat me?”
Dan asked,  “Go ahead Rarity.  After the day you've had, you've
more than earned it, and if anyone asks where I went, tell them I
needed to stay behind.”

“You got it.”
Rarity used her magic on Dan to shrink him down to a more managable
size, and then continued to use it to levitate him into the air and
towards her open mouth.  Dan had a huge smile on his face, knowing
full well that if this didn't cheer up Rarity, then nothing would.
Moments later, he found himself resting on the white unicorn's
tongue, looking at her teeth.  Rarity took extra care not to hurt Dan
in the process, but she couldn't deny that she was enjoying the
taste.  About five minutes later she swallowed.

Dan easily slid
down Rarity's throat and into her stomach, which didn't have any acid
in it.  Dan knew that she wouldn't digest him after a day like that,
and he rubbed the walls of her stomach to let her know that he
arrived in it safely.  This pleased Rarity.

“Thanks a lot
Dan.  I feel so much better.” Rarity said happily.  “I
really should learn not to sweat the small stuff so much, but that
was crossing the line just a little too much.”

With that, she
started to walk back to Ponyville with Dan still in her belly.  By
the time she got back to her boutique, things had quieted down quite
a bit.  The customer was going around to other shops picking up
various items, one of which was a bouquet of flowers.  When he saw
Rarity, he approached her.

“There you
are Rarity,” the customer said “I...wanted to get you a
gift to show that there are no hard feelings.  So, these are for
you.”  The customer gave the flowers to Rarity, and Rarity gave
him a hug.

“I'm sorry
too.  A job like this is really stressful, especially after being
told that your work isn't good enough.  It's a real blow to one's
pride.”

“I understand
Rarity.  Now, about my suit.”

“I can have
it ready for you in a week.  This is one project I don't want to
rush.”

“Alright.
It's a good thing I've got spare suits, but they aren't nearly as
nice as the one you gave me was.  I know, I know, you don't have to
tell me.”

“You...actually
think...it was really nice?”

“I do now.
Look, Rarity I didn't know you at all until I came here.  I had no
idea that you take great pride in your work...Well, that's not quite
true, you were highly recommended, so that's gotta mean something.  I
just didn't know you'd react quite that way.”

“Oh, I see.
I took you by surprise.”

“Yes ma'am.”

“I forgive
you.  If you hadn't come to apologize, I would have just outright
banned you from my store.  Thank you for stopping me for making a big
mistake.  Now if you'll excuse me, it is getting late.  I should
really get to bed.”

“Good night
Rarity.”

Rarity walked to
her bedroom within the boutique and crawled into bed, and she was out
the moment her head hit the pillow.  In the morning, she let Dan out
of her stomach.  “Have a good time in there Dan?”

“Anything to
make a friend feel better Rarity.  Normally I would have wanted you
to catch me, but I figured you didn't want to chase me down.  I
should get home too.  Don't tell anyone what I told you last night,
okay?”

“My lips are
sealed Darling.  Now I should get to work.”

“See you
later Rarity.”

With that, Dan
gathered up his stuff and went home himself.  It turned out to be a
really good day for him.  He was able to cheer up a friend with his
own style of entertainment, and he learned how he too is just as
important of a friend as anyone else in the town.  He went home with
a big smile, and then put his suitcase in a trap door that only he
knew about before going to the train station to visit the princesses.

The End.
