Dan
Arashi had grown accustomed to living in the royal city of Canterlot.
He had been named Guardian by the princesses, and on occasion,
they've been known to eat him.  Though they tried to keep it a
secret, eventually they were caught in the act.  After explaining to
their subjects that Dan would never be harmed, their subjects just
let it go.

They
days were running together in Dan's mind as it drew closer to
Hearth's Warming Eve, the Equestrian equivalent of Christmas, and
everpony could see that he was excited for the holiday.  Then one
day, after a massive blizzard was reported near the Crystal Empire,
with several reported injuries, and even more being buried alive, Dan
was immediately dispatched to help with the recover efforts.  Sadly,
neither princess was able to take him, and since he couldn't fly,
there really wasn't much of an option.

“I
can take ya,” said an orange pony with a southern drawl.  “I'm
heading that way anyway.  Oh, I'm Applejack.”

“Well,
I suppose I don't have a choice but to trust you.  How fast can you
travel?”

“It
depends on how far I have to travel.  The Crystal Empire is quite a
ways, but I can probably get you there in about two hours if I walk
fast.”

Dan
agreed, and as AJ promised, he did get there in about two hours, but
at a price.  They both ran headlong into the blizzard and got
separated, forcing Dan to find his own way, but it did not go
smoothly at first.  He had no sense of direction as the strong winds
kept turning him around, not to mention the visibility was absolutely
horrible.  After a while, he reunited with AJ and they continued to
make their way to the front gate.

What
Dan didn't know was that it wasn't AJ who had found him, but a
Changeling sent by Queen Crysalis.

“Dan,
there you are,” the fake Applejack said.  “I think I've
found our destination.  This way.”

Dan
goes along with the Changeling for almost an hour, but Dan started to
grow suspicious when he saw a structure that looked nothing like the
pictures of the Crystal Empire he had been shown before departing.

“I
don't have time for this AJ.  This doesn't look like the Crystal
Empire at all,”  Dan said, slightly annoyed, and then he saw
something that made him even more suspicious.  The Changeling had a
dark pocked under its left eye, that's completely invisible to the
untrained eye.  “You're not Applejack.”

With
its cover blown, the Changeling revealed it's true form.  It looked
like of like a cross between a pony and a bug, more specifically a
mosquito, with segmented eyes.  “Quite right.  You're
completely lost.”

Dan
charged up his unicorn magic and made a large sword appear in front
of the Changeling's nose.  “You ought to know by now that I'm
not one to be trifled with.  Go back home and tell your queen to
leave me alone, or I will come there personally and take care of her
myself.  Am I clear?”  He said.

The
changeling was scared, and that's rare, but all the same, it ran off
towards home.

“What
a waste of magic.” Dan said as the magic sword dissipated.
“Now I need to find my way to the Crystal Empire.  Without AJ
to guide me, I'll have to find my own way.  Hmmmmm, maybe I can use
some magic to help me find my way.”

So
that's what he did.  He used a little magic to conjure a GPS system,
and he punched in his destination.  It was a little difficult to see
as it was constantly obscured by the white of the blowing snow, but
it was good enough, and after about two hours, he finally arrived at
the front gate.  The real AJ had beaten him there.

“Dan,
what happened?” she asked.  “I looked all over to find
ya, but eventually...”

“That's
enough, AJ.  We just got separated and I ran into a Changeling, which
I quickly dispatched back to its own home base.  I swear, they're
relentless.”

“Oh.
Well in any case, I'm glad you made it.  Princess Cadence is in the
library.  She's fine, and a lot of the injured were taken there as
well, since the clinic was closed for remodeling.”

“Are
they all okay?” Dan asked.

“Doctor's
said they would make a full recovery, but there are still a few
Crystal Ponies unaccounted for.  King Shining Armor is looking into
it.”

Dan
went to the library to see how Princess Cadence was doing, and he
found her talking with one of the employees about a Christmas
pageant.  Unfortunately there wasn't going to be one because the
theater was closed for the holiday season and there weren't many
other places to set it up.  Instead Cadence used some of her powers
to decorate the town square with all kinds of Christmas decorations.

“You
must be Dan Arashi,” Cadence said as she noticed the dark blue
unicorn.  “I'm Princess Cadence.”

Dan
took a bow before the royal Alicorn.  “I understand I've been
summoned to help with recovery efforts after a blizzard.”

“Ah
yes.  I did summon you for that.  There are still a few ponies who
were buried alive in the torrential snow, and some homes were
completely buried as well.  I need you to go assist Shining Armor in
rescuing any ponies you can.”

“Yes
ma'am.” he replied.

It
took about two hours before he had rescued every last pony buried in
the snow.  Sadly, some of them didn't make it due to fatal injuries,
or they tried to dig their way out of their homes only for the
tunnels they were digging cave in on them, crushing them instantly.
With the last of the ponies rescued and taken to the library, the
doctors immediately went to work fixing them up.  Cadence however had
started getting hungry in the time that she was waiting for Dan to
return, and after hearing what Luna and Celestia do to him on a
fairly regular basis, she figured she would give it a try.  When Dan
returned and gave the report that some of the ponies he attempted to
rescue didn't make it, and that the rest had been take care of, she
then summoned him into a side room.  One that didn't have any
windows.  As soon as Cadence was sure the coast was clear, she
started to approach Dan.  Dan had an idea of what she wanted to do,
and as such backed up.

“What's
the matter Dan?” Cadence asked.

“You're
going to eat me, aren't you Cadence?  Don't try to hide it, I can see
it in your eyes.”

“Very
well then, I won't.  May I?”

“Well,
since I'm here, I suppose so, but I get the feeling you weren't going
to give me a choice no matter what I said.”

“Nope,
not really.”

With
that, Cadence then used her magic and shrunk Dan down to about the
size of a sugar pill.  Dan didn't try to struggle, as he knew it was
futile.  Within moments, Cadence levitated him up to her mouth.  Her
breath smelled surprisingly sweet, as if she had just finished
chewing a slice of Double-mint gum.  As Cadence closed her mouth
around Dan, he began to wonder why she of all ponies had the urge to
suddenly eat him, but then he realized that it was probably because
of Princess Celestia that she got the idea.  Cadence moved Dan around
in her mouth using her tongue, getting as much taste from his as she
possibly could and she soon swallowed.

“Mmmmmmmm,
tasty.  You okay in there Dan?”  She asked.

“I've
been better, Cadence, but this isn't so bad.” Dan replied.

“Good.
If you want out of there, you only have to ask.”

An
hour passed before Dan requested to be let out of Cadence's tummy, as
he had to report back to Canterlot.  Cadence was more than happy to
allow it, giving him a kiss before he left.  Dan blushed a little.
He had never been kissed by an Alicorn as pretty as her, but all the
same, he took his bow and left for the train station, since he didn't
want to have to travel through another snowstorm.

As
the train departed, Dan fell asleep in his seat until it returned to
Canterlot, almost a full hour and a half later.  The station, and all
the streets had almost been completely covered in snow, but more than
that Dan saw sparkling lights everywhere.

“Well
I'll be.” he said “It's a white Christmas.”

He
got off the train and made his way directly to Canterlot Castle to
make his report, and to request the rest of the holiday off.
Celestia was more than happy to grant that wish, and asked her sister
to escort Dan out.  The two of them went around the town and took in
all the Christmas sights, attend a few plays and other parties, and
most of all, get to know each other a bit better, more than they
already were.

When
the day drew to a close and Luna had to raise the moon, she could
tell that Dan was exhausted.

“Thou
art tired?” she asked.

“It's
been a long day Your Highness.” He said, “I had to trek
through a nasty blizzard when I finally made it to the Crystal
Empire.”

“Then
I will allow you to sleep in my tummy.”

By
this point, Dan didn't really care where he slept, so he silently
nodded, and within twenty minutes, Luna swallowed him and Dan drifted
off to sleep in her belly.  The next morning, he was well rested and
ready to resume his work.

THE
END

I apologize to my commissioner about the delay.  This was not originally planned to be released on Christmas Day, but some things happened in my real life, and I lost the motivation to work on it.  Now that it is done, I figured it would be a good time to release it.
